Symphony
Walking up to the house
I grew up in
In a dream
The lights spring on
All at once
Then slowly fade
In every window
Like the last chord
Dying out beneath
The pianist’s lifted hands
Or how the lozenge
Dissolved in the mouth
Of the soprano
Who was afraid
He’d lose his voice
But didn’t
Or the way the one
Waving to you
Through the crowd
Seeing that
You’ve seen her
Lets her hand
Fall and smiles
