Pale in Comparison
Pale in Comparison
Such a strange figure of speech -
What pales doesn’t actually,
Only in comparison
To whatever it is it is
Held up against, so that
It seems blanched of blood
While the other,
Which also doesn’t change,
Appears to blush,
A difference one never
Would have noticed
Had they remained apart,
Like two dear friends
Who visit you together,
One of whom you have to
Admit you love more.
