Naming the Animals

In the book I seem always to be starting over
I read that it was Adam 
Who named the animals 
I see him reclining in the garden murmuring
As they happened by 
Elephant weasel chickadee lion
Such unique names 
To come up with on the fly
Oh yes and fly too
And beetle and caterpillar and ant
And those that lived in the sea
He’d never seen
But must have known were there
Whale and seal and manatee 
And even snake 
Who hadn’t done anything bad yet 
But like a boy with a BB gun
Was planning on it
