Kings at Table
Those old cantankerous kings
None in particular
Who ordered entire banquets
To be thrown away
And cooked over again from scratch
All because one red potato
Was underdone
Only wanted to know
Their word still carried weight
Even if only with servants
Whose heads they could have ordered
Be lopped off with the ease
With which their beautiful knives
Cut through the new potatoes
Meeting no resistance
