Could be hard on his parents, his mother
Especially. When they realized 
He'd tarried at the temple
And went back to retrieve him,
He asked them how
They hadn't known
He'd be about his Father's business,
And he didn't mean 
Nazareth Carpentry LLC.
And when his mother came up to him
At the wedding at Cana, all done up -
She'd gotten her hair did,
Wore a dress the price of which
Had made her poor husband wince -
To tell him they'd run out of wine,
He said, "Woman, what 
Have I to do with thee?"
Though this isn't exactly
What he said, whatever he said
He said in Aramaic,
And his eyes weren't blue,
Mike Johnson, 
His hair wasn't blonde -
He looked like one of those
Palestinians you don't see on the news.
His answer embarrassed her
In front of her friends,
To whom she'd boasted
About her amazing son,
And here he was, talking to her
This way, she who'd strained
To give birth to him while traveling,
And left the country to keep him safe. 
But everyone loved the wine
He made out of water, the best wine,
They said, they'd ever tasted, 
And for the rest of their lives 
They would long for it,
That wine they'd drunk together
That night at that wedding in Cana.
Hard as his words had been,
What they remembered was how 
Mellow the new
