After Guests Leave
The talk was of art and its irrelevancy
To modern life. Washing dishes, I wince
To remember myself leaning forward,
Insisting on art’s necessity, calling a man
I just met the wrong name.
I called him Matt instead of Mark.
So desperate was I to convince him
Art matters, I didn’t even
Call him by his right name.
